From industry first to sustainability leader

The GOLD Air Handling Unit is celebrating its 30th anniversary. At the launch in 1994, it was an all-new concept that changed the industry standard. With its pioneering design and innovative features, the GOLD unit set a new benchmark for energy efficiency and performance. Three decades later, GOLD remains the cornerstone of Swegon’s proposition.

Today, GOLD continues to lead the way. With a focus on sustainability, we are committed to reducing the embodied carbon of our units while extending the lifespan of existing units already in the market. By introducing XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel with Magnelis® coating (C5) inside our units we have reduced the total GWP by around 10% and a GOLD unit now contains roughly 15% recycled material.

Update older GOLD units

GOLD air handling units are built to last. By replacing selected components and installing new controls, the product gets a boost and lives longer. The Refurb kit is a spare parts solution that upgrades older units (manufactured 1996-2005) to today's controls and functionality. Also, the complete fan inserts can be changed to modern fans with EC motors. This extends the service life of the unit while minimising the environmental impact.

Benefits include:

  • Prolonged life and secured availability of spare parts
  • Extended functionality and BMS communication, enabling future upgrades and connectivity
  • New, easy to use interface
  • Improved energy efficiency of the fans
  • Quick installation, avoiding major interventions in the building
